Letter from the Deputy Vice Chancellor
Dear Alumni and friends,
This spring, our team of enthusiastic student callers is looking forward to connecting with you. Every year, our Telephone Campaign brings together alumni, students, and friends from across the globe, and the conversations that unfold are always a highlight. They are often inspiring, uplifting, and a wonderful reminder of the powerful bond we all share as part of the University of Glasgow community.
The campaign is a special chance to reconnect, celebrate memories, and reflect on the impact that generations of Glasgow graduates continue to make. I always look forward to hearing the stories our students bring back, moments that shaped your time at UofG and the ways our University continues to influence lives long after graduation.
This year we are also celebrating an important milestone in the University of Glasgow’s distinguished history, our 575th anniversary. Over the next 12 months, we’ll be celebrating our history and the impact that support from our community has had here in Glasgow and around the world.
While we honour our past, our callers are also excited to share the ways our community is making a difference today, and how you can help transform lives through programmes such as the Access to Opportunity Fund. This Fund helps students overcome barriers to education and make the most of their Glasgow experience. With your support, it provides essential financial and pastoral assistance throughout their journey, ensuring that every student has the chance to thrive and that no one is left behind. From academic achievement to lifelong friendships, your generosity helps turn aspirations into reality and supports the next generation of world changers.
We hope you will consider supporting the University of Glasgow and playing a part in its continued growth. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference to current and future generations of students, and we are deeply grateful for your consideration.
Our student callers will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks, and I look forward to hearing about the wonderful conversations you share. Whether you choose to support or simply enjoy reminiscing, I hope you find the experience enriching.
If you would prefer not to receive a call, please let us know by emailing givingtoglasgow@glasgow.ac.uk or phoning 0141 330 7146.
Thank you, and I hope you enjoy speaking with one of our students and taking a moment to reflect on the pride of being part of Glasgow’s remarkable 575‑year legacy.
Best wishes,
Professor Rachel Sandison OBE
Deputy Vice Chancellor (External Engagement)
