Half Yearly Meetings of the General Council
The General Council meets twice a year, usually in January and June. All graduates and academic staff of the University are automatically members and are warmly invited to attend. Meetings are chaired by the Chancellor, Baroness Katherine Grainger.
The next Half-Yearly Meeting will take place on Monday 2 February 2026 at 1800 hours as a webinar event.
Advance registration is required - you can register here. The agenda and a note of the previous meeting, will be shared with members closer to the date - a copy of this will be made available on this page. Elections for one or more General Council Members will also take place at this meeting.

You may wish to note that future meetings of the General Council are scheduled to be held online on the following dates:
- Monday 26 June 2026 at 1800 hours
- Monday 25 January 2027 at 1800 hours
- Monday 28 June 2027 at 1800 hours
- Monday 24 January 2028 at 1800 hours
- Monday 26 June 2028 at 1800 hours
- Monday 29 January 2029 at 1800 hours
- Monday 25 June 2029 at 1800 hours
