Internships, Work Placements & Traineeships

Internships, work placements, and traineeships offer invaluable opportunities to develop practical skills, expand your professional network, and gain real-world experience in the art and cultural heritage sector.

Although the MAGMa Consortium does not directly organise placements, our partner institutions maintain strong relationships with museums, galleries, auction houses, cultural foundations, and art market professionals across the globe. As a student, you will receive regular updates on internship opportunities and guidance on how to apply.

Many students choose to pursue a placement during the summer after their first year or following the completion of their dissertation in the second year. Previously, MAGMa students have undertaken internships at institutions such as the Network of European Royal Residences in Paris, Cultural Emergency Response in Rotterdam, and the Museum of Fine Arts, in Houston, Texas.

The University of Glasgow offers a Student Opportunities Hub offers a wide range of UK-based internships and part-time roles that are open to MAGMa students throughout the two-year programme.
