Short Description
During this course students will establish the necessary conceptual, theoretical, practical and technical skills for the production of their final film and new media art project. This course will prepare students to propose a creative project and prepare their 'film/programme' idea.

Assessment
The standard assessments for this course are:
■ Oral presentation of project proposal - 15%
■ Written report (1500 words) - 15%
■ Portfolio - 70%
If required, for instance where a disability prevents a student from undertaking a specific method of assessment, the following alternatives are available:
■ Recorded presentation as an alternative to the oral presentation.
■ There is no alternative to the written report, but a flexible deadline can be offered as reasonable adjustments (students should follow the usual process for extensions)

Course Aims
This course aims to:
■ Prepare students to develop a project proposal for their proposed film/tv/art project.
■ Develop students' ability to work meaningfully in a collaborative environment
■ Provide students with the practical and theoretical skills to explore and produce innovative and original film or media art projects
■ Provide a reflective critical context for the production of small-scale low budget moving image and media art projects.
■ Teach students creative based research skills through structured activities and input from academics, artists and industry professionals.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ Develop a well thought through pitch, based on input from workshops and outcomes from structured activities
■ Critically apply key skills necessary in the contemporary screen based field such as developing concepts, story board, or shooting script and exploring creative methods.
■ Provide necessary skills to apply practice and creative process as a research method relevant to the film and new media art field.
■ Conduct research into theoretical and practical research relevant to their proposed project and its related field.
