Short Description
In this course, students will learn about the theory and practice of leadership in health professions education and will reflect on how this applies in their professional context.

50%: Video presentation, 5-7-minutes duration; or Audio Podcast, 800-1000 word transcript (ILOs 1 and 2)
50%: Micro-reflection: A small reflective piece using alternate formats (short essays, video presentations, audio podcasts) 500 words or approx. 3 mins. (ILO 3)
Course Aims
This course aims to give students the opportunity to:
1. Develop their knowledge and understanding of leadership in the context of health professions education;
2. Critically reflect on/evaluate their personal approach to leadership and their effectiveness.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate the extent to which theories of leadership are relevant to in a health professions (education) context;
2. Critically evaluate the role of a leader in health professions education, with respect to balancing vision, strategy, innovation, and adherence to regulators' and institutional policies on design and delivery of health professions curricula;
3. Critically reflect on their personal approach to leadership and critically evaluate their effectiveness.
