Short Description
International Fixed Income Markets examines the structure, instruments, and dynamics of bond markets in a global setting. The course introduces students to sovereign, corporate, and emerging market debt, with emphasis on pricing, risk, yield determination, and the role of macroeconomic and monetary conditions in fixed income markets across countries. It also considers key international dimensions such as exchange rate risk, cross-border investment, and the interaction between global financial markets and portfolio decisions. In addition, the course will look into broader international financial markets and the role of the international financial manager in evaluating funding, investment, and risk management choices in a multinational environment.

Course Aims
The aim of this course is to:
■ Develop students' understanding of the main instruments, institutions, and pricing mechanisms in international fixed income markets.
■ Examine how global macroeconomic conditions, monetary policy, exchange rate movements, and credit risk shape fixed income investment decisions across countries.
■ Equip students to evaluate the role of international financial markets and the responsibilities of the international financial manager in funding, investment, and risk management decisions.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. Critically evaluate international fixed income securities and structured debt instruments using advanced valuation frameworks and quantitative pricing methods.
2. Critically analyse the international risk in fixed income markets and its implications for security pricing and market behaviour.
