Short Description
This module explores the dynamic relationships between organisations and their stakeholders, emphasising the importance of effective stakeholder engagement in international management. Students will critically examine strategies for designing and structuring work to optimise individual and team performance, manage diverse personalities, and drive staff motivation. The course integrates the principles of the Scottish Fair Work framework promoting values of respect, security, opportunity, and employee voice as essential components of a fair and productive workplace, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals,. By the end of the module, students will be equipped to apply these principles to foster inclusive, high-performing teams in a global context.
By taking the course, students are expected to develop such skills such as group-work skills, oral communication skills, independent learning, reflect upon their own learning and international perspectives. The students will also be aware of ethical business practices. The course will include the following learning activities: the students', collaborative/group/team-based learning and peer learning. Thes will develop graduate attributes and enhance employability skills of students.
Timetable
10 x 2hr = 20 lectures.
5 x2 hr = 10 tutorials.
This course will be delivered through a series of guided reading, lectures, self-assessment exercises and case study tutorials in semester one.

Course Aims
This course aims:
■ to cultivate life-long reflective learners and evidence-based, socially responsible leaders who understand the complex interactions between individuals, teams, and organisational structures.
■ to explore how organisational behaviour shapes, and is shaped by, its external environment. Drawing on essential frameworks in sustainability and fair work, the course provides a comprehensive understanding of people at work.
■ to insights into how organisations can enhance both the quality and sustainability of their outputs for the benefit of all stakeholders.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Identify and analyse the role of diverse stakeholders in organisational contexts, appraising strategies to balance competing priorities in decision-making effectively.
2. Compare and evaluate theories of personality and motivation and their implications for job engagement, making evidence-based, socially responsible decisions that foster ethical workplace practices.
3. Analyse the role of group dynamics in organisations, identifying both the strengths and limitations of team-based work while developing personal effectiveness within diverse teams.
4. Critically evaluate the importance of diversity in organisational contexts, analysing how diverse perspectives enhance decision-making, improve organisational outcomes, and contribute to inclusive workplace cultures.
5. Apply and evaluate key concepts in power, culture, and leadership, demonstrating an understanding of how these concepts influence personal leadership development and organisational performance.
6. Critically appraise approaches for embedding the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and the Scottish Fair Work Framework within organisations to promote inclusivity and ensure mutual benefit for all stakeholders.
7. Develop independent learning, reflection, oral presentation and group skills.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
