Short Description
Managing Cultural Change in Organisations is an introduction to a range of practical frameworks, theories and literature related to the practice of designing and implementing a suitable cultural change management plan to support the strategic intentions of an organisation.
The course provides a solid basis for students developing practical consultancy skills relative to the applied practice of cultural change management. The course is based upon a change management strategy
that includes active learning in groups in class, debate and discussion, formal lectures, summative and formative feedback assessment framework. The case study emphasises themes around diversity and inclusion. The learning strategies are fundamentally collaborative in nature. Teaching will consist of lectures and workshops.
The learning strategies will support the development of graduate attributes and support ethical practices within organisations. It will also support experiential learning through consultancy practice and encourages a collaborative approach to learning.

9 x 2 hours per week. (1 hour of lecture followed by 1 hour of workshop).

Course Aims
The course aims to enable students to:
■ evaluate organisational culture in both conceptual and practical terms and diagnose cultural fault lines.
■ apply a model that can frame cultural change interventions.
■ evaluate the role of managers in leading cultural change and the associated soft skills required for effective leadership.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Evaluate the applied value of a range of cultural change management methodologies and identify relevant theory that can inform and support their application to practical situations.
2. Analyse organisational culture connecting its relationship to business performance and strategic change.
3. Synthesise all the learnings provided throughout the course to be able to Identify skills development needs for cultural change leaders
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
