Short Description
The overall aim is to teach students about fundamental topics in Cognitive Psychology at an advanced level and to deepen their knowledge. Throughout the course, students will gain insight into research findings in areas such as reasoning, problem-solving, expertise, language, judgment and decision making, etc. The course takes an applied approach and explores how cognition is embedded in the real world and how it affects our daily lives and vice versa.

Course Aims
The overall aim is to broaden and deepen knowledge of Cognitive Psychology (introducing novel knowledge to students without prior knowledge in this subject) with a focus on how key findings and theories apply to real-world scenarios.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ Demonstrate advanced knowledge on complex topics in Cognitive Psychology.
■ Understand how research in Cognitive Psychology is conducted and the research methods used to investigate human cognition in order to think critically about them.
■ Critically evaluate theories and findings in Cognitive Psychology using empirical evidence.
■ Understand how to apply findings from Cognition Psychology to real-world scenarios.
■ Consider potential issues around application and be able to critique some of the issues with applying findings from a lab to real-world settings.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
