Short Description
Students will develop a critical understanding of what factors (individual, physical, environmental) may influence sport and exercise performance. They will learn how these factors can be harness or mitigated to enhance and improve performance and explore real world examples of this in practice.

Course Aims
This course aims to provide students with a critical understanding of what factors (individual, physical, environmental, clinical conditions) may influence sport and exercise performance. Students will critically evaluate the evidence based around these and how these factors can be harness or mitigated to enhance and improve performance. They will also explore and critique real world examples of this in practice.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate the biological, psychological, physical, environmental factors that influence sport performance
2. Critically evaluate the scientific evidence and underlying mechanisms explaining how these factors enhance, limit, or alter performance across different athlete populations
3. Illustrate strategies used to harness or mitigate performanceâinfluencing factors, drawing on interdisciplinary scientific evidence.
4. Demonstrate the implications of performanceâinfluencing factors through realâworld examples relevant to sport and exercise contexts.
