Short Description
This course will address issues surrounding the Climate Emergency and Net Zero in the renewable and sustainable energy field, with an introduction to existing energy demand and provision in the UK and globally. This involves various energy technologies, resources and devices introduced to meet the potential energy gaps and mix for future demand and supplies.

Course Aims
The aim of the course is to provide students with a very good understanding of the renewable and sustainable energy sector, including renewable technologies and their impact on the environment, government policy, technical and financial risks, how the market operates and procedures for examining design options and economic and environmental viability.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ identify issues and challenges associated with the current development of renewable energy technologies including policies, including technical, financial and environmental risks and mitigation measures;
■ apply their knowledge of other engineering subjects in the assessment and design of renewable energy schemes and impact on carbon emissions;
■ assess the environmental impact of renewable energy schemes
■ design outline engineering solutions and their environmental impact;
■ create novel solutions using integrated renewable and sustainable energy technologies for a range of demand led scenarios.
