Screening for Gambling Harms
GRG have worked with a range of stakeholders in the public and third sectors to advance our understanding of how to screen for gambling harms when people present at social and healthcare services. Central to this work was an NIHR-funded study led by King’s College London, which included Prof. Wardle as a co-investigator.
The study developed two screening questions which are currently being trialled in three Local Authorities in England.
Alongside this, the study team produced a range of training resources for professionals working in adult social care services:
- Training webinar for staff asking about gambling harms (30 minute YouTube presentation; download the slides)
- Staff guidance (including support organisations)
- Recommendations for local authorities wishing to embed a question about gambling harms within services
