Research Seed Funding for International Collaboration

The University of Glasgow is deeply committed to fostering global partnerships, recognising their vital role in addressing complex global challenges and improving the lives of the communities we serve locally, nationally and internationally.

In June, we launched our new strategy, World Changing Glasgow: University for the World, which sets out our ambitions for the decade ahead. Central to this vision is a commitment to transforming lives through ideas and action, grounded in world-leading research, teaching and innovation.

As part of this commitment, we are delighted to provide seed funding through Glasgow's Global Partnership Fund to facilitate collaborative research with our priority international partners.

Application guidelines

Researchers affiliated with the University of Glasgow are encouraged to submit joint seed funding applications in collaboration with international academic partners. Applications must be developed and submitted by University of Glasgow staff. Comprehensive guidance and application materials are available on our Global Partnership Fund page.

For researchers who have pre-existing connections at the University of Glasgow, we encourage direct engagement to explore the possibility of submitting a joint funding application.

For those seeking new collaborative opportunities, the University provides a Find an Expert platform, enabling prospective partners to identify and connect with academic experts by subject area to discuss potential research initiatives.

Applications can be prepared now and online applications will open in early August.

World-class research facilities

The University further demonstrates our commitment to cutting-edge research through the Advanced Research Centre (ARC), a £116 million flagship facility opened in 2022, as part of the University’s £1 billion campus redevelopment. The ARC was purpose-built to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, providing an open and dynamic environment designed to inspire innovation and refine research methodologies.

Through the Campus Development Programme, one of the largest campus expansions in the UK, we have created other world-class facilities for staff and students, including the James McCune Smith Learning Hub, the Clarice Pears Building and the Adam Smith Building.
