ARC-XR offers a wide range of specialist equipment which is regularly updated in line with key developments in computing and immersive technology.

Software

ARC-XR provides access to a wide range of XR software designed to accommodate diverse user needs—from ready-to-use, off-the-shelf applications requiring no setup, to flexible development platforms for creating custom immersive experiences at any technical skill level.

  • Meta for Education and ArborXR: mobile device management systems for streamlined provisioning, remote content deployment, and user experience optimization across XR headsets.
  • Unity: industry-standard engine for 3D and XR application development.
  • Edify: no-code platform for creating custom interactive 3D experiences, ideal for rapid prototyping.
  • Uptale: immersive learning platform based on 360 video 
  • Eclipse Creator: mixed reality platform for customisable lab skills training scenarios
  • Nanome, ChimeraX and PyMOL: molecular visualisation and modelling with XR integration.
  • Off-the-shelf XR content: a curated selection of XR simulations, immersive experiences, educational applications, and games. 

  

Custom Software Support

In addition to our existing library, we offer a bespoke software sourcing service tailored to your specific research objectives. New software titles can be procured to support novel or domain-specific use cases. Our team works directly with researchers to source, deploy and evaluate software solutions that best fit their project needs.

Note: ARC-XR has a minimum age of 10 for users. This is based on headset manufacturers’ guidelines.
