The Adam Smith Business School partnered with the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia, to host a discussion exploring the continued relevance of Adam Smith's ideas for contemporary economic development. The event formed part of wider commemorations marking the 250th anniversary of The Wealth of Nations.
The discussion examined a range of topics including financial regulation, labour markets, behavioural economics, public policy and sustainable development. Speakers considered how Smith's ideas continue to inform economic thinking and policymaking, while addressing contemporary global challenges such as inequality, innovation and inclusive growth.
The event featured Professor Soner Baskaya (Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow), Dr Denni Puspa Purbasari and Dr Rimawan Pradiptyo (Faculty of Economics and Business, UGM), and was moderated by Dr Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo.
